Mild Steel
Mild Steel is a Low Carbon Steel (0.05- 0.25 % C). It is not an alloy Steel. It has good ductability, machineablility and weldability in comparison to high carbon steel. Carburizing can be done in order to increase the surface hardness. Though the tensile strength is low, but it can be easily formed and it has relatively lower price. It is easier to cold-form because of the lower carbon content, which makes it easy to handle. Density : 7.85 g/cm3 (7850 kg/m3 or 0.284 lb/in3). Forms: Pipes, Tubes, Plates, Flat, Round, Square, Sections(C, I, H).
